theres no tricks they will ask for tumbling but its not required. they will ask you to do your jumps they'll ask for a double or your 2 best jumps. at they clinic they will teach you 1 or 2 cheers that you have to learn and do at tryouts. they will teach you a dance that you will do at final tryouts, at the clinic they will show you what a normal practice looks like.

tips:
1. Dont Act Nervous: even if you are nervous dont show it , be goofy do something silly to get your nerves out
2. Try to make them laugh:if you show them that your sweet and funny then they'll heart you
3. Faces: when you are doing your dance do kissy lips open your mouth in excitment, wink, smile, basically act like your the s**t
4. When Criticed: smile and nod your head
5. Ask Questions: ask em they like when you do that=]

Stretches
1.your straddle: have your legs infront of you like your in your middle splilts and grab an ankle for 10 secs , then the other then in the middle, that will work your toe touch and middle splits.
2. do your front side splits: go into a high V for 10 secs, grab your leg for 10 secs , back into a high V for 10 secs, that will help you on your front herdler, and your splits.
3. do butterflys: helps your groing
4. do a backbend and put your legs in front of you: this will help with a back handspring and walkover
5. stretch your rists so they dont break.

oh and the people who said you wont make thats bs you hav3 a great chance just be you, also they wont teach you tricks!

thatz basically it if you have any questions message me!!! kisses~*~

Practice in front of a mirror. Keep your wrists straight. Have someone who knows help you. Don't be floppy! Pop your moves and keep your head up. SMILE! Be confident and just practice until the tryouts. Good luck! If you happen not to make it, try out for the dance team. But, if you do, you will have so much fun! My daughter was a cheerleader in 8th and 9th and on the high school dance team. Both are fun.

If you're not flexible and dislike the outfits, I'd suggest going out for the Dance Team or Pom Squad first.

Or, join the Color Guard of the Marching Band, or audition for the school play. The Chorus of a musical production may not have a lot of lines, but they do a lot of dancing and it's a great way to learn coordination, increase your flexibility and is tons of fun.

Im trying out.4 drill team, and have done cheerleading.
i started dancing in 4th grade in jazz, tapp, bellet and lyrical
Cheerleading you should be flexible. should have all 3 spilts down... i had wanted to be a cheerleader 4 four yrs... so it kinda makes me laught you JUST want to do it 2 weeks before try outs. Yoga help you to be flexible, learn your splits. tumbles and leeps.
1st year i tried out i have 3 yrs of dance as experience, and 3 yrs or gymast. and i STILL didnt get in...chances are your not going to get in THIS year. But learn to do back walk overs.

i stated learning to master this>>>>>>>>

in 7th grade.

You should learn to do AT LEAST theses 4 for you try out!>>>>>>>>>

well i was planning on trying out (but my mom didn't let me) well at my school we had workshops and i didn't know how to do half of the stuff but they worked to help you...but u either know it or you dont. the only reason why i would have made it was because i was small and they like small people because they can use you as flyers. but maybe take tumbling classes over the summer to help you.

omg! deja vu! i was in the same situation 2 weeks ago, and i made it! thing that i found interesting is that tumbling isnt that much importent, like try it out with a couple spotters, i never dreamed in a million years i could do one with someone helping but i did. and if you really enjoyed tumbling and flips, then you'd be tyring out for gymnastics not cheerleading right (:. and flexablitly isnt all that imporent, i mean if you have your toe touch down and can put on a fake smile if needed, you've got a chance. but practice is key and being able to get along. best of luck!

It depends how competetive your cheerleading team is,but I looked around some websites to try to find things to help you and the only tip I can really give you is to practice. Keep stretching and if you have a trampoline practice the basics like front and back handsprings, your jumps, and possibly front and back tucks. I hope you find these links useful, they could help give you some background information just to help you grasp a better understanding. The most important thing about a cheerleader, is that you are energetic and devoted!
...

This next site will provide videos to teach you how to do some basic and progressively harder tricks:...
...

This final site gives slowed down animations, tips, and descriptions for tons of moves:

Do a lot of stretching, as much as you possibly can - while you're watching tv or something sit in the splits, as far as you can go, against a wall or something. It's a little painful at first, but it'll help you get flexible. Or sit in the butterfly position. Cheerleaders need to be flexible.

Get in shape - do a lot of cardio. Jumping jacks, running, things like that.

Good luck
