It is always possible for a freshman to make varsity cheerleading. However, you are going to have to work extremely hard. It sounds like you are already a very good cheerleader. You should at least make JV. Depending on how competitive of a program your school has I was highly recommend nailing down your back handspring and you really have to have a back tuck and layouts.

1. It is possible with A LOT of hard work to get you handspring backtuck and layout down before May. But it will take daily practicing and private lessons would be essential in order to do this.

2. With lots and lots of hard work and dedication a freshman can make varsity cheerleading!

Yeah, of course, if you work really hard at it! I work at my gymnastics for hours at a time, because I don't quit until I've mastered a skill. So if you really want to learn your handspring backtuck and layout then just keep working hard and you'll get it.

Here's some tips: Practice the form of the back tuck by rebounding really high and at your highest point of the rebound, tuck your knees really hard, but don't flip. after this, when you do go to rotate, hold the back of your knees and focus on one spot in the distance all the way through the flip until your knees get in the way. Make sure you go really high and stick your landing. you must keep a tight tuck all the way through.Don't put your legs straight or that is called a back pike. you should land with your feet planted on the ground and arms up to the ceiling. Feet should be together.

A freshman can make the varsity cheerleading team. It is possible. My friend made it last year and she was a freshman. But you have to be really good at all of the skills.

Good luck!

Well that depends on your skill level compared to the older cheerleaders. Personaly I would be pissed if I was a senior who had been on the squad since freshman year and I got beat out to a 9th grader. Know what I mean? So yeah its possible, just dont count on it. Work hard and take what they give you, even if it means being on JV for a year. If you dont make varsity this year just practice exra hard for the next year. Oh and don't kill yourself trying to make it. Do what you can and relax.
